David is the Principal and Founder of Crescendo Law and a lawyer who is called to the Bar of Ontario and admitted as a licensee to the Law Society of Ontario.
David takes great satisfaction in providing sound legal advice to his clients and helping each of them achieve their business goals.
A large part of David’s legal practice involves working with startup companies on all of their corporate and commercial law needs and, in particular, advising founders on financing transactions. As part of his involvement in the startup ecosystem, David acts as a Mentor at The Forge McMaster, which is a business incubator program serving innovative startups in the Hamilton region and at McMaster University.
David also advises private equity firms on their fund formation, capital raising and investment activities, and advises business owners and investors on the purchase and sale of businesses.
Prior to founding Crescendo Law, David was a corporate and commercial lawyer in the Toronto office of Gowling WLG. During his tenure there, his legal practice focused on M&A, private equity, venture capital and corporate transactions.
Before practising law, David worked as an investment banker at Scotia Capital and as a private equity fund investor at CPP Investments.
David graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Queen’s University where he received course prizes for achieving the highest standing in both Advanced Securities and International Taxation. David also obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Queen’s University, graduating with First Class Honours.
In addition to being a lawyer, David is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and a Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA).
